'Madelaine' started as a response to National Poetry day and its theme of 'food and poetry'

We asked members of four writer's sites to write seven poems in seven days; a few people did but others wrote just a few poems or wrote prose...or took pictures; and as I was once a food writer for The Guardian, it seems natural for me to write recipes to go with some of the dishes mentioned.

Our designer, Jan, put the best material together in a colourful, lively package, linking the recipes to the relevant poems. We thought our new baby, 'Madelaine' as Jan called her, was beautiful but were surprised on the enthusiastic reception she received.

More than a thousand people have already seen her and the feedback has been consistently positive. At the end of November, we discovered that our Madelaine had been given a 'Poetry Landmark' Award by the UK Poetry Society.

We had to celebrate and what better way could there be than to begin a second issue, one for the Holidays. And in the New Year, we'll be working on a 'Winter' issue. Because that's what we've been slaving over a hot computer for... to create a celebration of food and drink through words and images which we invite you to share.

And the sharing goes beyond asking you to see what's on the table; The Pleasure Dome is a non-profit co-op and we want you to help us in create further editions of Madelaine. Your food poetry, memories, recipes, websites, hints, tips, photos and artwork are all wanted; the world's first pot luck magazine.

Look around you... what don't you see? Adverts...no adverts...because we all donate our time and skill. We have no funding and sadly can't pay for material but will give you a membership to Dome2, a link to your own website or bricks address if you want the publicity and we are able to use your material. You can also have free membership to the Dome and get our newsletter or post on 'The Public House' message board.

And if you enjoy our feast of words and pictures, if you'd like to give a 'little something' or sponsor what we are doing here or back one of our future projects, please contact me, Suzi Pritchard or have a look at our membership page which gives Paypal and bank details.

If you want to take some of the recipes... please do; my gift to you and all who enjoy good food and good writing. But please remember that everything else is copyright and you must get permission from us and the author to use it elsewhere.
Our site is non-fattening, allergen free, and made of the finest ingredients. So go ahead, fill your hearts and minds and plates; raise a glass to all those who have made this site possible... as we raise our glasses to you, our visitors.

Good health! Wealth and happiness! to you and your families in 2005 and beyond.
